Sandra Kay Thornton

March 29, 1949 — April 11, 2016

Sandy was born March 22, 1949 in Denver, Colorado, the eldest daughter of Edythe and Frank Veltman. She graduated from Alameda High School. After working in her father's restaurant business for a short time, she went on to pursue a career as a civil servant and retired from the City of Westminster several years ago.


Sandy is survived by her two children, Tanya Lynn Katherine Gabrick (Don), Bret Charles Joseph Gunther (Tiffany), her five adoring grandchildren Ashley (Nick) Gallegos, Rachel Gunther, Jake Gabrick, Emery Gunther and Crosby Gunther, her brother, Mark (Chris Oliver) Veltman, and her sister, Tina (Jim) Enssle. Sandy is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Thornton with whom she will be laid to rest at Fort Logan Cemetery in Lakewood, Colorado, as well as her father, Francis J. and Edythe E. Veltman.
