Ruth Marie Smith age 86 years 9 months 9 days, passed from death to life on Thursday, July 7th, 2016.
Ruth was born to Arthur and Emma (Hannemann) Meinhardt in Bartlett Township Minnesota on September 29, 1929. She was baptized in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit on 10/20/1929 and confirmed on 5/9/1943 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bartlett Township Minnesota.

Ruth married Alan Smith on 6/10/1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bartlett Township Minnesota. After high school Ruth worked for JC Penney's for one year until their marriage. They farmed for 14 years. Ruth began working for the US Post Office in 1963 as a clerk and later retired as Postmaster in Hewitt Minnesota in 1992.

Ruth was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and also was a member of the S & S Homemaker's Club. She belonged to the Ladies Aid group and quilted for the Orphan Train in both Minnesota and Colorado. She also worked on the Altar Guild, and was a Sunday School teacher in Minnesota. She enjoyed attending many Bible study groups over the years.

Ruth enjoyed many hobbies of sewing, crocheting, knitting, reading, gardening and working in their yard. In 1999 Alan and Ruth moved from Minnesota to Colorado. Ruth began her day each morning by reading her daily devotions and Bible. Ruth and Alan were members of Hope Lutheran Church in Aurora Colorado.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Emma Meinhardt; daughter Linda; husband Alan; granddaughter Mariah Smith; daughter-in-law Linda Smith; brothers Ernest Meinhardt and Roy Meinhardt; brothers-in-law Raymond Rooney, Elmer Arndt and Garvin Smith; sister-in-law Eunice Meinhardt.

Ruth is survived by sons Steven (Debbie) Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Craig (Deby) Hazen, North Dakota, daughter Carol (Ron) Doucette Como, Colorado; grandchildren Dustin Smith, Megan (Neil) Kramar, Ryan (Alison) Smith and Jackson Smith; great-grandchildren Greyson, Lynna and Ledger Kramar; sisters Marcella Arndt and Alice Rooney; brother Arthur (Myrna) Meinhardt; sister-in-law Devona Meinhardt; brother-in-law Lewis (Jean) Smith; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers include Megan and Neil Kramar, Ryan and Alison Smith, Jackson Smith and Dustin Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to either Hope Lutheran Church in Aurora Colorado or Bartlett Immanuel Lutheran Church's Perpetual Cemetery Fund in Minnesota.
