James D. Ahern III, 75, married to Marlene Ahern, of Aurora, CO, passed away on October 26, 2016.
Born September 14, 1941 in Fairmont, West Virginia, he was the son of James D. Ahern Jr. and Catherine Shaw Ahern.
Jim joined the U.S. Air Force in 1959, after graduating high school. He served active duty for 21 years; as a Special Investigations Manager, an Instrumentation Mechanic and as a Senior Air Policeman. He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant. Jim then went back to work as a civil servant, keeping the same job, same desk and same gun until his retirement in 1996.
In his spare time, Jim loved to play Keno, especially during his trips to Reno, NV. He was an active member of the Eagles since 1967, a member of the Elks since 1964 and TREA since 2013.
He is survived by his wife Marlene of Aurora, CO; his daughter Meredith and her husband James of Gulfport, MS and their daughter Liliana; his step daughter Marlecia and her husband Bryan of Waterloo, WI and their daughter Anniston; his step son Prentice of Huron, SD and his son Dillan.
Jim was predeceased by his father James D. Ahern Jr., his mother Catherine Shaw Ahern and his brother, John Ahern.
A military honors service will be held November 7 2016, at 12:15pm at Fort Logan Cemetery. There will be a celebration of life following the service at the Fraternal Order of Eagles at 2:00pm, 1151 S. Galena, Denver, CO 80247.
