Autumn Helen Long

Autumn Helen Long, 25, of Aurora, passed away January 29, 2018.

She was born January 27, 1993 in Aurora, Colorado, the daughter of Harry and Diane (Janney) Long. She attended Denver Christian, Bishop Machebeuf, Thomas Jefferson High Schools. She attended the Community College of Aurora.

Autumn made a lasting impression on all who knew her. She was creative, organized, daring, stubborn, loving, giving, encouraged others and had a fun sense of humor.

She created beautiful jewelry as a young teen. She started her own business selling her jewelry at "in home" parties. As a teenager and young adult she developed a strong work ethic. She was dependable, trustworthy and always had advice on how to improve the company she worked for.

One Sunday Autumn along with her parent's ate at Dozen's restaurant on Havana St. She said to her parents, "This place is adorable and the food is fantastic, I think I want to work here." Within a few weeks she had her first job at the restaurant and worked her way up to manager within a short time. She also worked at Lucile's Restaurant and worked her way up into management as well. Her hairstylist worked at Bella Mia Salon in Greenwood Village and they thought so much of her, they asked her if she wanted to be their receptionist. All three companies she worked for (and their patrons) were extended families for Autumn.

She enjoyed sewing, crafting, decorating and creating unique artwork. She had plans to go back to college for Interior Design.

Recycling was her passion. If she could have outlawed plastic bags she would have. She believed everything should be biodegradable, reusable and recycled. If she saw trash items not being recycled, she would bring them home and put in her recycling bin.

Because of Autumn's passion for recycling, we ask you to throw your plastic and glass bottles, junk mail, cardboard and cans into a recycling bin instead of the trash. You would be surprised what you can recycle. Old clothing, cloth material, shoes, eye glasses, building supplies can all be recycled and given a second life. Every city has a recycling program. In Autumn's honor, please take advantage of it. Yes, it takes effort but it is worth it.

Everything was not always sunshine with Autumn. She suffered from depression. Even after seeking medical help, it wasn't enough to save her from taking her own life.

May you be at peace in God's arms, and with those loved ones who have gone before you.

Autumn is survived by her parents, Harry and Diane Long; brother, Noah Long; sister, Amanda Long; two nieces, Chloe Long and Danae Stewart-Long; nephew, Malakai Long; grandparents, Trudy Janney Martin, Warren Martin, and David Kelley; uncle, David (Mary Dean Smith) Janney; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert Janney and George and Mildred Long.
