Mary Catherine Peterson, 93, of Denver, passed away September, 28, 2018.
Mary C. Peterson was born in October 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, to her parents Patrick and Katherine. Because of her father's asthma condition, the doctors recommended a move to Denver, Colorado for a drier climate. Later, her brothers Patrick and Tom were born.
Mary attended Annunciation School in Denver through grade 12. She met her future husband Paul at a dance, where she thought he was cute and a good dancer. Five months later, in April 1947, they were married. Mary worked as a bookkeeper for Carpenter Paper Company, while Paul worked assorted jobs and ended up starting his own plumbing business.
In August 1954, her first son (Paul) was born, and in February 1958, their second boy (Dan) was born. Mary changed jobs to work at Western Appliance. With the arrival of the two boys, she decided to stay home and work on the books for the plumbing business.
In 1983, son (Dan) married daughter-in-law (Evon), and in May 1988 her first and only grandchild (Matthew) was born. Matthew married his wife Lena in September 2014, and their son, Mary's great grandson (Finley) was born in April 2016.
Mary and Paul were married 65 years when Paul passed away in January 2013. Mary continued to do the bookkeeping for the family as her son Paul then took over the business. Mary was also preceded in death by her two brothers.
Mary was a very generous and thoughtful person, especially toward her family on her favorite holiday, Christmas.
Mary's desire for her two sons was to see them grow into mature, honest, reliable men. Her overall desire for all the family was that each one would be loving, caring and honest with each other and others, as well as living according to God's Law.
Most importantly, Mary knew Jesus Christ. She believed that Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of her sins and was preparing a place for her in heaven. We are all thankful for Mary's love, devotion and belief in God.
Mary Peterson died September 28, 2018. She was 93 years old.
Mary is survived by two sons, Paul Peterson and Daniel (Evon) Peterson; grandson Matthew (Lena) Peterson; great grandson, Finley.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul; parents Patrick and Katherine and two brothers, Patrick and Tom.
Funeral Mass, Friday, October 5, 2018, 10:00 am at St Louis Catholic Church, 3310 So. Sherman St., Englewood. Private Family Interment, Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends at an Open House at Mary's home on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
