Cody Michael Lyster, 21, of Aurora, Colorado died on April 8, 2020 after experiencing complications from the Corona virus. Cody was born on September 27, 1998 in Denver, Colorado, the son of Kevin and Lea Ann (Mott) Lyster. Cody graduated from Rangeview High School in 2017, where he was a member of the baseball team. He was currently enrolled at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado, as a junior majoring in criminal justice and where he was a member of the club baseball team.
Cody loved spending time with his family from family game/movie night, family trips (whether to Mexico or Alaska) to our camping trips, fishing, special times with his sister driving around enjoying music and just spending time together and spending his time helping out his grandmothers. Time with his friends was spent playing paint ball, mini-golf, escape rooms, spending time with his friends' families and of course just hanging out driving around in his truck. Whether with friends or family, he also enjoyed watching and/or attending sporting events and concerts.
From a young age, Cody had a love for baseball. From starting at Arapahoe Little League, to playing with the City of Aurora Youth Baseball, to Rangeview High School, to CageRat and Prime, all the way to playing club baseball at Colorado Mesa University his love for the game became a passion for educating the youth in the game. Cody umpired for both Arapahoe Little League and the City of Aurora and he also, in the past few years, helped his parents coach his little sister's youth softball team when he would come home from college for the summer.
One of the proudest moments of Cody's life was during his 8th grade trip with Columbia Middle School where he was chosen, after writing an essay, to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. In addition, Cody was also involved in Cub Scouts and after receiving his Arrow of Light bridged over to Boy Scouts where he achieved his First Class rank.
Cody is survived by his parents Kevin and Lea Ann Lyster and his sister Sierra. He also leaves his grandmothers, Maridee Lyster and Shirley Mott and several loving aunts, uncles, cousins and so many friends. Cody was preceded in death by grandfathers Carl Lyster and Richard (Dick) Mott and grandmother Marsha Lyster.
Cody will be remembered for his big blue eyes, infectious smile, his larger than life personality and his love for his mullet and Charlie Blackmon beard!
