Daniel Brooks

March 24, 1948 — August 21, 2020

The earthly life of Mr. Daniel Lee Brooks began with his birth on March 24, 1948 in Chicago Illinois to Bobby Brooks and Navellar Tilmon. He was fifth of thirteen children. Both parents and two brothers, Bobby Laffeyette Brooks and Edward Lee Brooks preceded him in death. Daniel was outgoing, had a generous spirit and was family oriented. He welcomed a good challenge and enjoyed working with his hands. His favorite mantra was "always the hard way".
Daniel accepted The Lord Christ into his life at an early age and received his formal education in West Memphis Arkansas.
Daniel enlisted in the United States Army and served with honor and distinction. He was honorably discharged April,1971. He loved the country he served and embraced his military family. It was while in the Fitzsimons Army Hospital recuperating from injuries that he first came to be in Colorado. He loved the beauty of Colorado and decided to one day make it his home.
Daniel was the father of two beautiful children, Danielle Brooks and Bryon Starks.
Daniel was full of life and spirit and it spread to all who were around him or knew him. In his free time, he loved getting together with family and friends, with good food and good music. Daniel had the gift to gab and a heart of gold. He was a jack of all trades and liked working and showing others how to do almost anything!
Through mutual friends Daniel and Vernessie first met in Colorado in 1980. They later married on Valentine's Day in 2005. Marriage, as with life, endured its growing pains, however love and respect abounded. Through the years, the family shared many happy and precious times together.
Friends called him Dan, kids called him daddy, Daddy Dan, or Dan the Man, but on August 21, 2020 his Lord and Savior called him home.
Those left to cherish his memory include, his wife Vernessie Brooks of Colorado, son Bryon (Kimberly) of Texas, daughter Danielle (Darnell) of Colorado, six stepchildren, two grandchildren, four brothers Melvin E. Brooks (Margret), Samuel Brooks, both of California, Chester Brooks of Oklahoma, Joseph L Brooks (Diana) of Indiana, six sisters Annie Mae Gibson of Arkansas, Mildred Elain Brooks, Ester Markey (Loren), Elvira E. Luckey, Priscilla Washington, and Joyce A Cotharn all of California, his special cousin Lawrence Aytman (who was more like another brother), a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
