Cmsgt. Harrywendell Bell

March 30, 1923 — July 29, 2014

Harry W. Bell, 91

Harry was born on March 30, 1923 in Fort Benning, Georgia to parents Nora Lee Bell and William Jennings Bryan Bell. Harry married Leah Geraldine "Jerry" Moon on September 24, 1947 in Denver, Colorado who preceded him in death in 2005.

Harry accomplished the rank of Chief Master Sargent in his devoted military career of 30 years. He fought for the United States Army and United States Air Force during his military career. He was a very decorated World War II Veteran, earning accolades such as the bronze star and numerous others. During World War II, Harry served under the authority of General George S. Patton. After World War II, he spent time protecting our country in the Korean War.

After retiring from the Air Force in 1969, Harry worked at Timpte, Inc. building refrigeration trucks until he retired at the age of 62. He also spent time instructing classes on aircraft electronics at Lowry Air Force Base. Mr. Bell was very intelligent and good with his hands. He could fix almost anything with a motor or a plug.

Harry was known across the state of Colorado in his later years for his unique display of Christmas lights that he displayed at his former residence, 524 South Victor Way. These lights were the talk of the state for more than two decades. The elaborate arrangements of lights and animation caught the eyes of newspapers, news programs, and people across the state. Harry decorated his house with the help of his wife and grandchildren until he was 78 years old.

Harry passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on the morning of Tuesday, July 29, 2014. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years Leah "Jerry" Bell and his daughter Linda L. Brown. Survived by daughters Sandy (Kevin) Walsh, Jackie (Phil) Herrmann, and Patty Judd (Sylvester Dass and son-in-law Jim Brown.
