Adolfo Montoya , 83, of Thornton, passed away May 26, 2016.
He was born April 26, 1933 in Antonito, Colorado, the son of Abel and Lucinda (Sanchez) Montoya.
Adolfo was an honorably discharged member of the US Army, serving for 20 years and during the Korean and Vietnam wars.
While Adolfo was stationed in Germany, he met Christa Shroth. They were married on December 18, 1959 in France.
He was a member of the VFW. Adolfo also enjoyed going to the Senior Center to visit. He also attended the Widow-Widowers group.
Adolfo enjoyed going out to dinner with family and friends. He also enjoyed Sunday afternoon drives. Adolfo loved to travel and traveled extensively during his life, including trips to Germany and Spain. He would also go camping with his wife Christa and camp in Estes Park.
Adolfo is survived by Son, York W. Montoya; Two Grandchildren, Carla Daniels and Ryan Montoya; 1 great-grandchild; Two Brothers, Nicholas Levi (Angie) Montoya and Joe (Mary) Montoya; Two Sisters, Leina I. (Arnulfo) Lopez and Enis Morales; Many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends and an Aunt, Rafelita Duran.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Christa Erna Montoya, Father, Abel Montoya, Mother, Lucinda Montoya, and Two Brothers, Abel Montoya, Jr., and Carlos Montoya.
