Alberta Jeanette Mitchell (Sweet Sister), 74, of Denver went to Heaven, April 30, 2018.
Alberta was born in San Augustine, Texas January 24, 1944 to Elmer & Fannie Mae Maxey-Davis. Alberta graduated from J.O. Davis High School in 1962, where she was active in sports, played the clarinet and was on the Honor Roll. Alberta attended various beauty schools in the state of Texas and became a successful cosmetologist and entrepreneur in Seattle, Washington, Aurora and Denver, Colorado. She volunteered for many activities and was the voice and activist for the underserved and those that suffered with mental issues.
Alberta married Bobby E. Mitchell in 1968, in Denver, Colorado.
Alberta was very intelligent and loved working with her hands. Alberta had a green thumb and grew beautiful plants. She was also very artsy, had an eye for detail and won much praise and accolades for her interior decorating and design.
Alberta was a fabulous story teller, who touched many with her infectious smile and humor. To know her was to love her. Her love of gospel music, the Lord and shopping bargains, was known by ALL. She also had the gift of getting the most "Impossible" things done.
Alberta is survived by two children: April Mitchell-Brasfield (Joseph) of Louisville, Kentucky; Jason W. Mitchell (Aimee Marth) of Denver, Colorado; Special daughter, Venita L. Vigil of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by two sisters: Marion Williams and Lois M. Sanderland of Denver, Colorado, brother: Tommy (Mary) Davis of Grand Prairie, Texas, one Aunt: Suzanne Johnson of Ft. Worth, Texas. Three grandchildren: Cashmere D. Mitchell and Indeya A. Brassfield of Louisville, Kentucky and Gizelle R. Mitchell of Denver, Colorado. Four great-grandchildren: Jade Alexis, Jordan Jaynae, Jacieon Mitchell and Bryson M.J. Hynes. Special friend to Ernestine Moore and Janiel Carter and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
