Alfred E. "Pete "Pedro", age 95, passed away April 3rd 2022 at St. Paul Health Center Denver, Colorado.
Pete was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Angelo and Mary Pedro on June 5th 1926.
He grew up, as he would say, "in a cold water flat".
Pete valued a proper education but chose, as many of his generation, to serve his country.
At 17, in 1943, Pete joined the U.S. Navy, after repeatedly, asking his Dad and Mom to sign the form. At that time the length of Service he had chosen was for the duration of the war.
He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre as an Underwater Demolition Technician and earned the WW II Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal 6 Stars and the Philippine Liberation Medal 2 Stars. He was Honorably Discharged in April 1946.
Dad did not speak at length of his service time but was proud to have served.
Dad returned to civilian life and in 1948 decided to go to California. As he would tell the story, the car broke down outside of Bennett, and he ended up staying here. Dad purchased his current home in 1953 and lived there until going to hospital in January of this year.
Pete married Betty Force in August 1961 and to this union two children, Angelo and Mary were born.
Pete was a professional Mover and Driver for over 50 years, owing his own truck and affiliated with United Van Lines. He retired in 1996, but it wasn't long after that he found that the road was still calling a bit and worked for a time as a long-haul driver for Spirit Freight.
Pete did retire, finally, and discovered that he enjoyed not working.
In retirement Pete enjoyed his grandchildren, travelling with Betty and going up the hill as he would say.
After Betty's passing in May 2001, Pete met and Married Diana Herrera.
Pete and Diana enjoyed traveling and going up the hill.
Pete is survived by his wife Diana, daughter Mary and husband Scott Sheely, son Angelo, grandchildren Kelsey and Kyle, numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being overseen by Newcomer with final resting at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
