Alfred "Al" Eugene Stracke, 91, of Lakewood, Colorado passed away on September 12.
Al was born February 6, 1932, in South Dakota to Fred and Anna Stracke. His mother, father and siblings Merle, Syd and Viola preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Stracke. He also leaves behind five children: Debbie (Elvie) Brinson, Sandy Gutierrez, Alan (Kerry) Stracke, Brenda Jackson, and Rowdy Jay (Michelle LeGros) Stracke. Grandchildren: Maully Daniels, Crystal Bradburn, Kodyak Brinson, Kyle Charles, Noah Jackson, Andre Jackson, Summer Jackson, Dylan Stracke, Claire Stracke, Henry Stracke, step grandson Kenny Judd, and six great grandchildren.
Al grew up on a family farm in Stuart, Nebraska. Al was a member of the U.S. Army, serving from 1952 to 1960. He retired after a long career at Coors in Golden. In his younger days he enjoyed playing his guitar in a band, fishing, scuba diving, and flying his own plane. He was a lover of wildlife and friend to the geese, squirrels, deer, and birds that frequented his backyard.
A service to celebrate the life of Alfred Stracke will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Metro Chapel in Lakewood on September 29, at 10:00 AM. The family viewing will be from 9:00 – 9:30 AM, followed by a public viewing from 9:30 – 10:00 AM.
Following the service, a military honors ceremony will be performed at Fort Logan National Cemetery, where Al will be buried.
