Alice Mae Cook Pressley, 70, of Aurora CO, went home to be with Jesus on November 18th, 2023. She passed peacefully and was surrounded by "her girls". Born February 25th, 1953, in Danville, VA, she was the daughter of Preston G Cook and Jeanne B Cook. In 1970 she married her first husband, Fred W Elkins. In 1971, she graduated from George Washington High School and had her first daughter, April. After graduation she worked at Danville Memorial Hospital and then at Dr. Koplen's office.
On January 13th, 1979, she married her 2nd husband, Ronald "Spike" Pressley in Danville, VA and relocated to Edwards, Colorado that summer. In 1984 they had her second daughter. Michelle. During this time, Alice worked at Vail Valley Medical Center (currently known as Vail Health Hospital) in the medical records/transcription department. In July of 1987, Alice and her family moved to Kremmling Colorado where she co-owned and co-operated a bakery with Spike for 12 years. After their divorce and the selling of the bakery in 1999, Alice relocated to the Denver area where she worked at various places, and eventually retired from Denver Health.
Alice loved collecting roses, watching The Golden Girls, The Voice, Law & Order: SVU and the Hallmark Channel. She loved music and loved to sing the old gospel hymns she grew up hearing in church. She loved her family and being a mother and a grandmother was what gave her the greatest sense of pride. She loved her friends with all her heart unconditionally. She loved all her little dogs, past and present. But most of all, Alice loved her Lord and Savior. She knew the importance of praying, reading her bible and worshiping God. She had a heart for Jesus.
Alice is survived by two daughters; April Hart (Richard) and Michelle Pressley; four granddaughters, Rachel Ortt, Bethany Pressley, Brooke Pressley, and Bryanne Oaks; two nephews, Jonathan Talbott (Brandy) and Joseph Talbott (Kristen); her closest friends, Donald Talbott, Kathy Nance, Betty Travis, and Martha Ramey; and finally, her dog Lucy.
