Alice Marie Warner

December 7, 1931 — September 10, 2018

Alice Marie Warner, 86, of Denver, passed away peacefully Monday, September 10, 2018.

She was born December 7, 1931 in Brighton, Colorado, to Lewis Clayton Albert and Louise Caroline Albert, nee Bruckner. She was the youngest of eight children and grew up in Greeley, Colorado, graduating from Greeley Central High School in 1950.

Alice worked as a telephone operator for many years in Greeley, Portland, Oregon, Cheyenne, Wyoming, and lastly in Denver. She retired in 1990 from Qwest.

Having been affiliated with several religions during her life, she took classes and converted to Catholicism in 1997. She enjoyed trips with the Keenagers group at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. She also enjoyed traveling to places like Hawaii, Oregon, Las Vegas, Southern California, South Dakota, Florida, New Mexico, and New Orleans. Her last trips outside of Colorado were both to Missouri in 2011 for each of her grandson's military graduations at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

She enjoyed many Colorado day trips with her family for drives or picnics in places like Estes Park/Rocky Mountain National Park. Drives through the Rocky Mountain Arsenal in Commerce City, CO, were particularly enjoyable for the wildlife viewing. In her later years, her son, Chris, acted as her live-in aid and caretaker and drove her through the Arsenal sometimes several times a week.

Alice is survived by three children: Carla Strecker, Jeffrey Warner (Carol), and Christopher Warner, all of Denver. Another daughter, Rosalind Warner, died at one day old in November, 1959. She is also survived by one granddaughter: Tristan Strecker, and two grandsons: Daniel Warner, and Matthew Warner, and also one great-grandchild, Madalynn Warner.

A memorial service will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home in Aurora, Colorado at 5 p.m. on Monday, September 17th. There will be cremation.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Alice's name to the National Osteoporosis Foundation.
