Allyson (Ally) Jane Marisch, age 34, of Denver, Colorado, was unexpectedly called to Heaven on Saturday March 7, 2020 while attending a gala event to benefit a local Denver school.
She was born to Dawn and Trevorr Marisch, November 22nd,1985, in West Allis, WI. Allyson graduated from West Allis Nathan Hale High School in 2004 and received a BA in English from the University of Wisconsin - Lacrosse in 2008, including a study abroad in Spain. She went on to receive her Master's Degree in English and Linguistics from the University of Idaho in 2013 and taught undergraduate students along the way.
Allyson's love for her family shined from sun-up to sun-down. It showed through her thoughtfulness and tender kindness. Daily phone calls, long walks and time spent together in the North woods of Wisconsin were some of the things she cherished most. It was at her family lake-home where her love of the outdoors took hold. She was always up for any adventure with her easy-going ways. Ally had a special bond with animals and was always looking for one to rescue. Sam her cat and Jaedyn the family dog are two special examples.
An accomplished writer, she was witty and loving with well-timed humor. Ally is known for her spontaneous dance parties and impromptu karaoke. Seizing every moment, her charismatic ways, made even the most reluctant participant join in the fun. Being an avid reader and enthusiastic researcher on topics of interest allowed her to connect with anyone.
In alignment with her care for the environment, upon graduation from UW-Lacrosse, Allyson entered the California Conservation Core and worked building trails in the back country of California. She then remained in Morrow Bay, California to monitor the endangered snowy plover bird on the Pacific beaches. After returning to Wisconsin to be with family, nature called to her once again and she moved to be near the mountains in Denver, CO. After working in the business world, Allyson changed her career path to follow her passion in making a difference in the lives of children and became a middle school English Language Development teacher at Denver Discovery School.
Allyson cared about making a difference in all that she did. She was the managing teacher of the Genders & Sexualities Alliance (GSA) club that focused on leadership development and activism. Students loved and respected her for the safe space she created in her classroom, allowing every student to express themselves and to excel academically. Students could often be found in her classroom during lunch hours and free periods. Ally was known for her tenacity when it came to advocating for her students. She united people from every background and made all feel welcome. Ally gave a voice to the voiceless.
When life brought challenge, Ally persevered and showed her resilience. Committed to raising funds for research supporting the rare disease that impacted herself and her family, she gave of her time to the family fundraising events, where she became known for her amazing voice on stage. In her humble ways, she shared her talents with all.
In recent years, Ally shared her mantra, "I'm just throwing all the good out in the world I can, and we'll see what comes back". It was during this time that she met her soulmate and love of her life, Chris White. Life got even better. With an instant connection, they shared their love of the outdoors, the environment, dancing and just about everything that could be done with one another. A shared vision of their life together that was taken away too soon.
