Amador "Chito" Salinas, passed away from natural causes at the age of 85, on Wednesday, December 25, 2019 in Colorado. Amador was born on October 22, 1934 to Leopoldo Salinas and Carlotta Benavides-Salinas in Laredo, Texas.
He was married to Alva Nelia Carrejo in 1966, mother to his children Sandi and Leo. He is also survived by his sister Sara Salinas Teague and his four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leopoldo and Carlotta, and brother Leopoldo, and his sister Viola.
Amador graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in 1952 and attended St. Edward's University, Laredo Junior College, and Southwest Texas State University where he obtained his B.S. in Secondary Education in 1956. He enlisted in the Army of the United States and was discharged in 1963.
His passion began with his career in education as a math teacher focusing on youth and later moved into the business sector. His hobbies included visiting with friends, watching the San Antonio Spurs and various baseball games, gambling and betting on horse races in Las Vegas, coaching his daughter on business acumen and specifics in the "corporate world", and more! He was a true champion, always focusing on the positive. He bravely wore a smile "day in and day out" as he battled with his health in the final years of his life.
A special "Thank You" to the amazing team of professionals at Lifecare Center of Littleton who we came to know as family. We are forever grateful for their loving care and support over the years.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home - West Metro Chapel in Colorado on Thursday, January 9, 2020 from 12:30 p.m. The burial will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
