Amelia M. Robinson

March 15, 1936 — January 28, 2020

Amelia Robinson was born in Bessemer, Alabama on March, 15,1936 to Lula Mae Warren.

Amelia married Willie Carson Shaw in 1953 and together they raised 5 children. During this time, they traveled throughout the world with their children and finally retired from the military after 25 years of service in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Amelia's lifelong dream was to be a nurse and she graduated Valedictorian of her class. She later focused on selling haute couture for Neiman Marcus and won multiple trunk shows. Amelia then decided to be an Esthetician and Hair stylist.

She was preceded in death by 3 husbands, Willie Carson Shaw, Monk Montgomery, and Donald E. Robinson. She also suffered the loss of her oldest son, Willie Carson Shaw Jr.

Sadly, she had been struggling with a Dementia/Alzheimer's diagnosis for years and succumbed to this illness on January 28th, 2020 at the age of 83 in Aurora, Colorado. Alzheimer/Dementia will not define who she was even in death.

Amelia was beautiful, elegant, genteel, optimistic, motivated, loving, and feisty and with a commanding presence and elegance worthy of the top haute couture designers and models represented.

Our Mother, Amelia, will be greatly missed by her children: Jacqueline Denesse Johnson-Moore, Willie Carson Jr., (Deceased), Ronald Edward Shaw, Valerie Laverne Shaw, and Byron Douglas Shaw. Her grandchildren: Ronald Edward Shaw II, Faith Shaw, Sydney Amelia Shaw-Tormey (Namesake), Isaiah Michael Johnson and Janae Simone Johnson. Her great grandchildren: Ronald Edward Shaw III, Danielle Amidy (Namesake) Shaw, Annabella Dorothy Winter Shaw and Lily Sage Shaw-Crain. She will also be missed by her surviving sisters, Laurine Jacobs and Ophelia Saffold as well as the remaining Florida family, extended family and friends that she loved and who loved her.

Amelia Robinson will be laid to rest in the home state of her mother who has preceded her in death, Lula Mae Warren-Watson.
