Andrew Shamy, born on July 13, 1928, touched the lives of many until his passing on January 15, 2025. A devoted family man and a gentle soul, Andrew's legacy will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
An avid fisherman at heart, Andrew found immense joy in spending time with his children and Grandchildren. His home was always bustling during the holidays, becoming a vibrant gathering place where stories were shared and laughter echoed. He adored taking his grandkids fishing and camping, instilling in them the appreciation of nature and the simple pleasures of life. Andrew's infectious sense of humor never failed to lift the spirits of those around him, and his vibrant personality made him a cherished companion.
Andrew served his country proudly as a Merchant Marine during WWII in the Pacific Theater, embodying an excellent work ethic that he carried throughout his life. An avid reader and a traveler at heart, he particularly loved journeys to Alaska and the beautiful Oregon Coast, where he created unforgettable memories that he cherished dearly.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Deana; his sons, Brian (Patty) and Randall; his daughters, Karen (Brad) and Ashleigh; step-sons, Roy (Debra) and Luke (Diana); 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Additionally, Andrew leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will remember his warmth and kindness.
He joins his parents, George and Mary, and 9 siblings, all of whom he missed dearly throughout his life. Andrew's spirit will continue to shine brightly through the love he shared and the memories he created.
A graveside service will be held on February 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado, followed by a gathering at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Metro, starting at 1:30 PM.
Andrew Shamy will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and laughter will forever live on in the hearts he touched.
