It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Angelina Mares. She passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at the age of 85. Though she departed from our lives, she leaves behind countless memories, family recipes, lasting love, extreme kindness, and a commendable legacy as a grandmother.
She was born in Pryor, Colorado on April 6, 1938 to late parents Mary Trujillo and Joseph Salazar. She was an extraordinary homemaker, mother, wife, sister, and grandmother who cared very deeply for her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed crafting, watching sports, and spending time with her family. Her cooking, smile, hosting, and unconditional love will be terribly missed.
Angelina is survived by her husband of 67 years, Lou; one brother, Gene Salazar; two sons, Greg Mares and Bob Mares; six grandchildren, Samantha Hernandez, Shawn Mares, Angie Good, Jimme Mares, Megan Mares, Evan Mares, Emma Mares, and Olivia Mares; five great-grandchildren, Xavier, Hailey, DJ, Maverick, and Alexander; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Let us learn from and carry on Angelina's strength, resilience, and kind heart. May we always remember the profound impact one can have in our lives like she had on all of us. Although our lives without her will be drastically different, we know that her spirit will remain with us forever, and may we meet again someday.
