Arley Donald Hussin was born October 1st, 1930 in Brown County Wisconsin in the city of DePere in a house located in the Brown County Fairgrounds. He was the son of Paul Joseph Hussin and Rose Lily Strong. He is preceded in death by his son Arley Dale, his brother John, his sister Shirley and his parents.
Arley's father managed the Brown County Fairgrounds for many years and ran a harness racing stables located there. Arley grew up in the fairgrounds around horses, dogs, chickens, cows and even
an occasional stray buffalo!
He was confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church in DePere, Wisconsin and graduated from DePere high school in 1948. After high school Arley joined the Navy and was assigned to the Oriskany CV-34 Essex Class Aircraft Carrier during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge Arley worked various jobs from a machinist to a taxi driver.
He met his first wife, Ruth Tribbey at the local racetrack in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. They married in 1954 and had 5 children; Julie, Arley, Darcy, Amy and Carrie. It was during these busy years of raising a family that Arley and Ruth were given an AKC Brittany Spaniel and became involved in the local Packerland Kennel Club. Thus began a near 60 year career in the dog world for Arley as a handler, breeder and finally becoming a judge in 1977. During these years Arley also worked for Sargento Cheese Company as their first non family member salesman. He was quite the people person so this was a very good fit for his personality and he quite enjoyed his years with the company.
In 1971, Arley married Barbara Zipperer and settled in Hartford, Wisconsin on an old dairy farm. With Barbara's help Arley continued his involvement in the AKC dog world. 1977 saw him moving to the Dallas Texas area to expand Sargento's sales market. Finding the summer heat too much for his Wisconsin background he then in moved to Arvada, Colorado and married Gail Brusky Peterson in 1980. This successful union lasted over 40 years.
Arley loved his and Gail's home near the foothills of the Rockies where they raised Brittany's, Golden Retrievers, Poodles and Arabian horses. He eventually transitioned his barn into a sales venue for his large array of various finds from local garage sales. He loved buying and selling anything he could make a profit from but also loved conversing with all who attending his barn sales. Arley easily made friends with neighbors, customers and even complete strangers. There are no words to express the impact Arley made on so many people and animals lives alike. Nor are we able to express how much he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's.
