Armella spent her formative years growing up on the family farm in Collyer, KS, taking responsibility for her chores, learning deep seated family values and developing a strong faith in God. She married Marcus Zerr on January 23, 1957 and moved to Denver, Colorado. Her and Marcus moved to Englewood, Colorado in 1961 where Armella lived until February 2023, when she moved to Harvard Square Memory Care in Aurora, Colorado.
Armella worked at Cherrelyn Elementary school as an administrative assistant for 29 years providing support to the faculty and office staff. Her greatest passion was her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed embroidery and made baby quilts for all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and others. She found great joy in her garden. She loved to decorate her yard with beautiful flowers including geraniums and vinca, which was her favorite.
Although Armella’s ability to find the words to express herself declined rapidly over the past few months of her life, she was always able to articulate her love for her family, friends and her caregivers. As a family we are grateful to all the love and support from our family and all her friends. We want to express our deep appreciation to the staff at Harvard Square and Brighton Hospice. Your loving care for Mom, made this journey so much easier for her and for us.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or Caring Bridge are greatly appreciated.
The Funeral Mass for Armella will be held at All Souls Catholic Church, 4950 S Logan Street, Englewood, Colorado on Wednesday, November 13, 2023 with viewing starting at 8:30 am, rosary at 9:00 am and Mass at 9:30 am.
