Arna was born March 3, 1948 to Kenny & Ruthie Hutchinson. She was raised on their small “farm” just below the water tower in Arvada, CO. She was an only child, but she grew up surrounded by a multitude of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. She attended Arvada High School where she played saxophone in the marching band which led her to meet the love of her life and husband of 57 years, Tex Haustein, on the band bus.
Arna and Tex were married in 1967 on Tex’s 19th birthday, so he’d never have an excuse to forget their anniversary. Arna worked for KOA Channel 4 until she left to help Tex run their company, A&T Muffler Shop, which encompassed the muffler shop, a U-Haul Rental Location and an Arctic Cat Dealership. Arna also worked part time as a teacher’s aide at Fairmount Elementary School, a Library Assistant at Lawrence Elementary School and later at McLain High School. She always found her work in education vastly rewarding and she played a major part in helping to shape the lives of thousands of kids. Her co-workers say that she was a calm, capable presence that the kids relied on and respected tremendously.
Arna enjoyed camping trips to Steamboat Lake, sewing – she was a 4H Grand Champion - and most of all, spending time with her family. Arna was a woman of faith, a loving wife, devoted mother, a steadfast friend and a proud Arvada Redskin – in that order.
Arna’s love for and unshakable faith in her Lord and Savior was at the forefront of everything she did. She was called home on August 6, 2024 and we know she is dancing in Heaven. Psalm 73:26 “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenny and Ruthie Hutchinson as well as daughter Amy Lynn Haustein and son Todd Michael Haustein.
She is survived by her husband, Tex, son Jeremy and daughter Sara, brother-in-law Larry (Doris) Haustein, niece Leah (Randy) Mangel, nephew Larry (Valerie) Haustein, great nephews Randy Jr. (Caitlin) Mangel and their daughter Magnolia, Tyler Mangel and his son Ransom, Duncan (Lauren) Mangel, Braden Mangel, and great niece Sydnie Mangel.
Arna’s sunny smile, sweet disposition and quiet determination will be missed, but we know she’s in Heaven and that we’ll see her again. Revelation 21:4 “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Until then, we’ll remember her and smile.
