"Art" was born on June 1, 1916 to Antonio and Maria Guercio who later changed their last name to Welch, and who came through Ellis Island in 1898 seeking the American dream and succeeded.
Art passed away peacefully on February 8, 2009 in Lakewood, CO.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Elsie (Arnott) Welch, four adoring sisters, nine nieces and nephews including William "Geno" Eugene Arnott, of Pueblo, CO.
Art is survived by his daughter, Nancy Noreen, eighteen beloved nieces and nephews, forty-one grand nieces and nephews and innumerable great and great-great nieces and nephews. He will be missed by longtime Crested Butte friends as well as Colo.Springs friends where he worked as a Master Mechanic at the Timken Roller Bearing Co. until retirement. Due to declining health, Art and Elsie lived in Assisted Living at Atria in Lakewood, CO the last eight years where his absence will be noted by friends and caregivers.
