Barbara A. Boyd

March 30, 1936 — October 23, 2018

Barbara Ann Boyd, age 82, passed into eternity on October 23, 2018 in Arvada, Colorado , where she lived with and was lovingly cared for by her eldest daughter and son-in-law. She is now at peace and free from the Parkinson's that she suffered with for 4 1/2 years.

She was born Barbara Ann Humphreys on March 30, 1936, in Dublin, Texas , to the late Bird and Bessie Humphreys, the eight of nine children. Barbara graduated from Abilene High School in January 1954, after marrying her husband of 63 years the prior August. She completed her Bachelor of Elementary Education from Stanislaus State College 10 years later, while working, mothering two of her children, and helping her husband through years of college and seminary. She taught 4th , 5th and 6th grades for 33 years in California and Colorado. She served alongside her husband, Murray M. Boyd, in the ministry of Christ's Kingdom for 42 years, 26 as a pastor's wife.

She loved the pastorate and serving her church community, holding a church-wide Christmas Tea every year in her home, for which she did all the baking from scratch single-handedly! She taught Sunday School , sang in the choir, hosted Ladies events and Deacon events, and counseled church members regularly. She couldn't have given more to her Lord and His people.

Barbara loved to sew and enjoyed teaching her grandchildren this skill. She also loved games and sports. She was competitive both as participant and spectator. She enjoyed playing in church softball leagues and gave her husband a run for his money on the gold course as well as the card table! She lived in Gainesville, FL for three years before moving back to Colorado and always rooted for her son's beloved Gators. She was also an avid Rockies and Bronco fan. In her final days, when she could no longer read or speak, she would still never miss a game.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Murray Boyd. She is survived by her younger sister, Nina Rose; her children, Phyllis Rader (Don), Charlotte Todd (Brian), and Edmund Boyd; 14 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
