Barbara Kay Hoover, 64, of Aurora, CO, passed away Tuesday December 13, 2016, at the Medical Center of Aurora.
Barbara was born to the late Vernon and Marilyn Bedore on November 1, 1952, in Omaha, NE. She graduated from Highland Park High School in Topeka, KS in 1970. She married Ted Hoover of Osage City, KS, on December 15, 1973, and lived in Norfolk, VA.
Barbara preformed clerical duties at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. After relocating to Aurora, CO, in 1976, she continued to perform clerical duties for multiple insurance companies including Travelers, Ohio Causality, Continental, and Burns and Wilcox. She received a Certificate of Completion in Catechism from the Archdiocese of Denver.
Barbara was an active member of Saint Therese Catholic Church, Together Colorado, Family Ministry, was the president of the Saint Therese Chapter of the Saint Vincent De Paul Society, was a lector for the church, and taught CCD. Barbara loved her family. She traveled every year to Stockton, KS for family reunions. Starting in 1993, Barbara fought and survived breast cancer. She loved to walk. She reached her goal by walking in the Susan G. Komen Race for The Cure for the past ten years.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Ted Hoover; two children: Keith Hoover, of Aurora, CO, and Kimberly Hunter, of Aurora, CO; eight grandchildren and two brothers: David Bedore, of Topeka, KS, and Bill Bedore of Stilwell, KS. She is preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Marilyn Bedore.
A rosary service will be held at Saint Therese Catholic Church, 1243 Kingston St. Aurora, CO, on Friday, December 30, 2016, on 6 pm. The family will accept flowers.
