Barbara Nell Morita, 84, of Denver, died Friday, October 30, 2020. Barbara was born to George Levi and Christine (Hodges) Levi October 26, 1936 in Jasper, Alabama. Growing up, the family moved often with Barbara attending 2-3 different schools in any given year. Like her father, Barbara loved travelling and exploring new towns across the country.
Barbara was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and spent her off hours volunteering her time to the organization's many charitable fundraisers. She made many dear, lifelong friends through the club. It was a vital and important part of her life for over 40 years. Barbara's career took several turns, typically in hospitality, and ending as an over-the-road truck driver along side her husband George. It was then Barbara was again able to embrace the love of travel and adventure she had as a child.
Barbara was funny, smart, organized, and tireless. She was an avid reader and writer having published several articles and short stories. Creative and artistic, she loved drawing, crafting and scrapbooking.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother and loyal friend. She is survived by her daughters Terri Carroll of Kittredge, CO and Donna Steinbach(Donnie) of Thornton, CO; sons Wayne Morita of Byers, CO and Jack Morita(Amy) of Cedar City, UT; and 26 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, twin sisters, brother Jack, and husband George Morita.
Services will be private, due to current restrictions. Donations to the Alzheimer's Association can be made in lieu of flowers at ALZ.org.
