Barbara A. Wilkins

Barbara Anne (Cashmark) Wilkins, 96, of Aurora, CO, passed away on March 16, 2024. She was born on July 20, 1927, in Molten, Iowa to the late Joseph Cashmark and Zelda Taylor.

After graduating from Albia High School, Barbara embarked on a diverse career path. She worked on a cruise ship on the Great Lakes, where she made many friends and met numerous renowned people. Following her marriage to William Shroyer, they relocated to Denver, CO, where she worked for Studebaker and he pursued his education at Denver University. In 1977, Barbara joined the Office of Surface Mining as their Executive Secretrary, dedicating herself to the federal government until her retirement in the mid-80s.

Barbara was a woman of many talents and hobbies. An avid traveler, golfer, pianist, gardener, seamstress, and knitter, she found joy in creating and sharing her passions with her loved ones. She and her late husband, Rolland "Rollie" Wilkins, M.D., resided in the Heather Gardens golf course community, enjoying countless hours of golf, tennis and dancing together. Barbara's craftsmanship shone through the Halloween costumes and outfits she lovingly sewed for her daughters and granddaughters, as well as the many items she knitted for her family. She took great pride in her courtyard garden, tending to it with care and dedication.

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Nikki Mahoney and Terri Harmison; granddaughters, Amber Fossett (Derrick), Erin Mangers (Trey), and Alexis Hildman (Dan); grandson Bryan Mahoney; and great-grandchildren, Austin Harmison, Lillian and Julianne Mangers, Grace, Jackson and Wyatt Hildman and Kamila Mahoney. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rolland Wilkins, M.D., her parents Joseph Cashmark and Zelda Taylor, her brothers, Joseph and Charles Cashmark, and her son-in-law, Gene Harmison.

A service to honor and celebrate Barbara's life will be held at Newcomer West, 901 S Sheridan Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80226. Newcomer Funeral Home, is assisting the family with the arrangements during this difficult time.
