Beatrice (Theresa) Wanczyk was born May 28th 1934 in Monte Vista Colorado to Helen Silva and Benjamin Blea. Her family relocated to the Brighton/Henderson area where they all worked the fields picking fruit and vegetables. She came to Denver Colorado at the tender age of 16 years old and although she had only a minimal education, she taught herself to read and write.
She started to earn a living in hotel housekeeping. It was there that she put a twinkle in Mr. Michael Wanczyk's eye. They married in 1954 and established a home in East Denver in the early 1960s where she raised her children and where she became the mother to a rainbow of other children throughout her life. Her love was so simple, kind, and pure that those who met her " adopted her" and called her mom! She loved it. Our youngest sister always referred to her as "her little".
Fortunately, she was able to live her entire life in her own home until the Lord called her to her eternal home on June 10th 2023. She celebrated her 89th birthday a few days before being admitted to the hospital. Her medical diagnosis and age left us no option but to realize we were losing our mother. As heart breaking as it is, we were blessed to spend quality time with her and witness her seeing and speaking to all the numerous loved ones who are waiting to greet her on the other side. We also had the opportunity to laugh, sing and pray with her. She was sure to instill in us how important it is to teach our children to love the Lord, to love one another and to pray pray, pray.... she was a gem and treasure to the very end and by the Grace of God she went peacefully when she breathed her last breath on Earth. We believe she has been greeted in Heaven by those she loved that have gone before her. Her husband Mike Wanczyk passed away in May of 1984, her mother Helen Vigil in June of 1998, David Vigil her stepfather in February of 1976, her youngest son Mark Wanczyk in October of 1998, and her eldest daughter Lucy Scott in January of 2006. She is also preceded in death by her long-time companion Bobby, brothers Julian and David, her sisters Alice, Sally and her sweet Mary. In addition, she lost her newborn baby, Jerry, who would have been her second born but because of a fall earlier in her pregnancy, he was born, baptized and passed away. During her passing hours "we believe" we witnessed her seeing her child and trying to reach out to him.
Mama leaves behind nieces, nephews and so many others that meant so much to her and are too numerous to list. She also leaves behind the following 2 sisters, 7 children, 29 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren:
