Bemis Mason Carlton, 92, of Arvada died June 30, 2020. He was born on October 9,1927 in Moro, Arkansas to Carl and Loreta Carlton. Bemis grew up on a cotton farm and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1948. He served 4 years in the Navy from 1948-1952. While stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Base he met Caryl Lucile Wagner and the two wed on June 7, 1952. After leaving the Navy, Bemis and Caryl moved to Detroit, MI. They lived in Detroit for 16 years where they had their daughters before moving to Arvada, CO in 1968.
Bemis worked as a welder for Grover Company, Detroit, MI. He relocated to Denver, CO with the company in the summer of 1968. He continued working for Grover (and it's successors) retiring in 1989 as Vice President of Operations. He enjoyed traveling to Arizona for baseball's spring training season every year, and enjoyed watching the Colorado Rockies on television and little league games at the park. Bemis is survived by his wife, Caryl, and his four daughters: Cathy (Mark) Hoag, of Collierville, TN, Suzanne (Alex) Vigil, of Arvada, CO, Pam Carlton, of Missoula, MT, and Lisa (Ray) Gifford, of Golden, CO. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Loreta Carlton, two sisters and three brothers.
Services will be at Newcomer Funeral Home followed by burial at Fort Logan Cemetery.
