Betty Joyce Hardin

November 8, 1933 ~ August 12, 2018

Betty Joyce Hardin, 84 of Aurora, Colorado passed away Sunday, August 12, 2018.

She was born to the late John and Mildred DeRidder, November 8, 1933, in Harvey, Illinois where she grew up and graduated from Thornton Township High School in 1951. It was during this time she met and married her husband, Clifton Hardin, on December 24th, 1951. Having become an Air Force wife, she moved 26 times during Cliff's 25 years of military service and gave birth to three children; Steven, Susan and Kimberly. In 1960, having spent the previous 3 years at Nouasseur Air Base, Casablanca, Morocco, they arrived in Aurora, Colorado for the first time. It was then they decided that Aurora would become their final retirement location. Eleven years later they returned for good to their forever home where they raised their children. Betty and Cliff were married for 65 years and two days.

Cliff retired from the Air Force in October of 1975 and the State of Colorado in 1991. Betty worked for the Aurora Public Schools, first as Cafeteria Manager but finishing her career as a Buyer for Aurora Public Schools Nutrition Services, a job she truly loved. Betty retired in 1994 and enjoyed spending her time with her husband, kids, and grandchildren and was a loving pet mom. She was also fond of visiting her sister, sightseeing, online games, the occasional margarita and she loved her Denver Broncos!

Betty is survived by her son Steven (Amy) and daughter Kimberly; four granddaughters Shayla (Jake), Breianne (David), Samantha and Sierra; two great-granddaughters Zoe and Bristol and her favorite son-in-law, Thomas. She is also survived by her sister Carole (Jerry) Leeson of Lansing, Illinois.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents John and Mildred, husband Clifton, daughter Susan and brothers, Melvin, Rodger and Glenn.
