Betty McKenzie, 85, of Centennial, Colorado, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of March 7, 2020.
Betty was born on June 7, 1934 in Racine, Wisconsin to Gertrude and George Coates. Betty grew up in Racine with her older brothers, Allan and Harry.
She moved to Colorado in 1973 with her family and in 1984 married the love of her life, Jim McKenzie. Betty and Jim loved to travel and lived in Phoenix, Arizona and Kingston, Texas before returning to Colorado. Betty had various jobs throughout her life, but her favorite was working in patient registration for Invision Sally Jobe. Betty loved to greet and comfort the patients she encountered as well as the wonderful friendships she gained with her coworkers.
Betty loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and was an incredible hostess. She always made sure her guests were welcomed and had plenty to eat and drink, especially sweets! Betty enjoyed spending time with her friends playing cards and participating in book club. She loved to watch and attend Colorado Rockies games. Betty was also very supportive of US veterans and was extremely proud of her father and brothers' services in World War I and World War II, respectively.
Betty is survived by her children, Bob (Liz) Kamm, Julie (Randy) McLean, and Cheri (Matt) Smith, grandchildren, Stephanie (Matt) Dillard, Ryan Lock, Kelly (Ben) Wilson, Amanda (Eddie) Gaba, Evan Kamm, and great grandchildren Hadley, Peyton, and Owen Dillard, Molly Wilson, Rylee Rapoza, and Anthony and Kallie Gaba.
Her family and friends take comfort in knowing that Betty is now reunited with her love, Jim, and is no doubt singing, dancing, and laughing. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
