Betty Lou Obrecht (Sanders), 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 29th, at her home in Aurora, Colorado.
Betty was born May 4, 1934, in Vienna, Illinois, to John and Nona Sanders in their home. She had three brothers, Richard, Kenneth, and James Sanders. They grew up together in Illinois, moving to Colorado for health reasons for her mother in 1949. After graduating High School in 1953, she met Walter Obrecht and they married in 1954. Both Walter and Betty were assured of their faith in Jesus Christ, sharing a deep love for the Lord.
Betty became a Navy bride when Walter began his US Naval service in 1956. Her life adventure continued over the next 20 years with Betty and Walter living in Fallon, Nevada, Fort Collins, Colorado, Opa-Locka, Florida, Brooklyn, New York, Toms River, New Jersey, Jacksonville, Florida, the Los Angeles area, California, San Diego, California, and then finally Dallas, Texas. Walter retired from the US Navy in 1976 and the family moved back to the Denver, Colorado area. During this continental migration, Betty and Walter had two sons, Walter (Miami) and Richard (Brooklyn), and a daughter, Naomi (Toms River).
Everywhere they moved, they became involved in a local church, serving Jesus where ever they went. That continued upon their return to Colorado, with Woodside Baptist Church being where they served faithfully until Betty became too ill to continue.
Betty is survived by her husband, Walter, two sons, Walter and Richard and his wife, Christel, her daughter Naomi, five grandchildren, Hannah, Rebecca and her husband, Matthew, Moriah, Brittany, and Walter, and four great-grandchildren, Louella, Reese, Sawyer, and Mallory. The list of friends made along the way would be too numerous to list.
