Beverly Jean Dodds Garrett
1929-2019
Beverly was born July 2, 1929 in Deadwood, South Dakota to Chester and Edna Dodds.
She spent her elementary years helping on her family farm in Spearfish, So Dakota. After graduating from high school, she attended Black Hills College in Spearfish and went to work for the city of Rapid City, SD., as a Juvenile Specialist. She worked many various jobs during her life assisting her husband. Two of her biggest and most loved jobs were as a professional wallpaper hanger and later she opened her own business she called, "Pillow Talk", making exclusive design decorative pillows for designers of quality homes in the Denver area.
She met Robert Joseph Garrett and married him on Feb. 12, 1952. They were married for 55 years. She had three children, Renae, Rochelle and Robert.
The center of Beverly's life was her love of God. She was deeply rooted into many churches throughout her life and had a strong born-again Christian belief. She enjoyed attending church as well as listening to various church services on TV in her later years. Her spirit was encouraged often by her listening to her favorite worship songs. She partnered with her husband in leading bible studies and hosting home groups.
She is survived by 3 siblings, Bud Dodds, Loren Dodds and Wanda Rusche. By two children, Brianna Oxford and Robert Garrett. Five grandchildren, Jennifer Carroll, Cameron Dancho, Ashleigh Corwin, McKinley and Brock Garrett. Four great-grandchildren, Magnus and Piper Bergstrom and Connor and Riley Dancho.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Joseph Garrett in 2007 and a daughter, Rochelle Lynn Meaux in 2000.
