Bonnie Belle Hensley Flores

Bonnie Belle Hensley Flores was born August 15, 1916 to Belle and Earl Hensley, at Mildred, Colorado. She was the oldest of twelve children. Bonnie received her education in the Mildred County School. She lived for a time in Yuma County, Colorado.

In 1935 Bonnie moved to Denver and was employed at a baking company where she met her life partner, Earl Flores. They were married in Littleton, Colorado on December 31st, 1936 and to this union were born two sons, Richard Daniel and Earl Gene. Bonnie also worked at Miller Western Clothing and the Franklin Serum Company. She retired from Franklin Serum after working there many years.
Most of Bonnie's life was spent living in Commerce City, however the last 7 ½ years she resided at the Alpine Nursing Home in Thornton where she enjoyed wonderful care. She was always thankful when she had visitors and she was especially grateful for her son, Gene who visited almost daily.

Many years ago Bonnie received Jesus Christ as her Savior, was baptized and came into the membership of South Sheridan Baptist Church, now know as Red Rocks Baptist Church.

Her family was very dear to her and she enjoyed doing special things for them. She made many early morning trips to the local bakery for their favorite goodies. Bonnie was a loving mother and was always interested in helping others. She was a good cook and her wonderful potato salad recipe is widely circulated and enjoyed!

Bonnie's husband, Earl, passed away June 13, 1986. She leaves to mourn her passing: her sons, Richard and Gene Flores, two sisters – Betty Rice of Redwood City, California and Mary Fast of Lakewood; three brothers – Jack Hensley of Oklahoma, Walter Hensley of Denver, and Dewey Hensley of Aurora. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and Uncle Ed Helton of Missouri. She is preceded by her parents, her husband, her sister, Shirley Marshall, brothers John, Byron, Gene, Stanley and Danny.

Bonnie passed into Heaven at 2 am October 3, 2009. We have many wonderful memories of her and will miss her dearly.
