Bonnie Jean Smith, 85, of Yuma, passed away February 24, 2018.
She was born October 14, 1932 in Byers, Colorado, the daughter of General and Artie (Hodges) Secrest. She attended Byers High School. On December 12, 1948 she married Harry Smith, of Byers, Colorado.
Bonnie had many loves in her life. Family was first and foremost. She loved sports of all types and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate. She was a creative woman, who loved painting, cake decorating and her first profession was a beautician. Her clients traveled from near and far for her expertise and friendship. Before her early retirement, she worked at Farmers Union Insurance where she made many new friends. She enjoyed her coworkers along with their bowling evenings and luncheons.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Harry Smith; three children, Randy (Judy) Smith; Valerie (Mike) Hibbert, Joy (Larry) Murphy; eight grandchildren, Jill (Steve) Nelson, Charity (Mike) Kettl, Hillary (Joe) Lozano, Jeffrey Hibbert, Matthew Hibbert, Tenae (Chad) Klinzmann, Kymberly (Brandon) Betz, Joel Gallegos and Michael (Beth) Murphy; and sixteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, General and Artie Secrest; sister, Ruby Hollingsworth; and brother, Herschel Secrest.
