Bruce L. Cobb

December 30, 1931 — January 23, 2025

Bruce Leon Cobb, 93 years young, passed peacefully at sunset on Thursday, January 23rd, 2025 in Denver, Colorado. His youngest daughter, Michelle, was with him when he took his last breath. The day he decided it was time to depart this Earth and go see his Mama and everyone he had been missing for years, was a day filled with torrents of love. All of his family, including his beloved grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews near and far were sending in messages to be read. In addition, his four children had time alone with him, and his love of 20 years, Pam, sweetly kissed him as he peacefully rested.

Bruce was a kind-hearted, gentle, loving, charismatic soul. He had an insatiable love for life and for the people he surrounded himself with. Bruce was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on December 30th, 1931. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard Everett and Ida Elizabeth (McKnight) Cobb and Brother Richard ‘Dick’ Cobb. Bruce is survived by his four children Bruce Wayne (Pam) Cobb, Juli Ann Cobb, William Stuart (Margaret) Cobb and Michelle Lindsey Cobb (Linda, Bruce’s second wife and Michelle’s mother). Also, survived by his 6 grandchildren Bryan Cobb, Brad Cobb, Natalie Alison Olson, Mitchell Taylor Olson, Samantha (Nate) Hyres, Maxwell Alexander Cobb (Melissa Ashley Chance) and his newest love, his great-grandchild William August Chance.

In his formative years, Bruce first attended Central High School and later graduated from Classen High (Oklahoma City) since so many of his friends went there. His closest friends, Larry Bernardy, Cal Stewart and others had urged him to come to Classen High School to play on their sports’ teams. Bruce was a sports enthusiast and an incredible athlete himself. First trying his hand in Basketball, Football and then Softball. Ultimately his passion was fast-pitch Softball and he quickly grew to become an outstanding pitcher. Over his 20+ year softball career, Bruce pitched several perfect games and dozens of no-hitters. In 2005 he was inducted into the Oklahoma Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame - a great sense of pride for him.

Not only was Bruce a decorated athlete he was also a highly respected professional duplicate bridge player and was a Platinum Life Master with over 13,000 masterpoints. He excelled at 3NT and attended many sectionals, regionals and national tournaments where numerous people hired him to play and teach them the game. He was a patient teacher, a good leader and an admired player. Just like in every other chapter of his life, Bruce loved being surrounded by many friends and his favorite bridge partners.

In his professional career he was an electrical engineer and designed and built substations and electric utility transmission lines around the globe. He then transitioned to the sales world and was a partner in a Houston-based company (Utility Products) that sold equipment to electric utilities in the southwest U.S.. He travelled far and wide carrying a light brown leather briefcase with colorful stickers of everywhere and every country he had been.

Bruce deeply cared for and loved animals, was an avid reader of mystery novels, respected and dedicated time to Veterans and was extremely proud of his beloved family and friends. In the last paragraph of his will he wrote:

‘I have lived a great life, had wonderful parents, my older brother Richard, who died too young many years ago (1980), my aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a beautiful family, including my first wife, Virginia, to whom I was married for over 30 years, my recent life partner and love Pam Root, and friendships too numerous to name and experiences most people would never have in their lifetime. It’s been a blast!!!’ ~ Bruce L. Cobb

We love you Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Uncle Bruce! Rest in Peace and see you again one day. Until then, keep having a blast!
