Carol A. Hansen, 73, of Aurora, CO. passed away on January 23, 2021 after a valiant fight with cancer.
She was born on November 20, 1947, in Salina, Kansas, the daughter of William C. Mills and Dorothy (Willcoxon) Mills. She graduated from Salina High School and attended Marymount College. On December 7, 1968, she married Gary Hansen, who she met at a college dance. They moved to Sycamore, Illinois for Gary's job and while in Sycamore, they became the proud parents of twin boys.
In 1979, the family moved to Aurora. They raised their boys here and Carol worked for many years in the Aurora school system as a para professional. After retiring, Carol loved keeping up her beautiful home and tending to her flowers. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, especially to their favorite spot, Disney World. Carol volunteered with their church's after school program and loved being involved with the Denver Santa Claus Shop.
Carol is survived by her husband and sons, Shawn and daughter-in-law Debbie Hansen of Aurora and Stacey Hansen of Lochbuie. She was the proud grandmother of three granddaughters: Haylee Hansen, Jennifer Reinhardt, and Jessica (Mike) Turnquist. She also loved her four great-grandchildren: Maya, Jack, Charlie, and Leela. Carol is also survived by her twin sister, Carolyn Buchenau of Liberty, MO., twin brothers Ricky (Kim) Mills and Randy (LeAnne) Mills both of Topeka, Kansas. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Her parents proceeded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Denver Santa Claus Shop or a charity of your choice in her name would be appreciated.
A viewing will be held on Monday, February 1, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home from 4pm until 8 pm.
A private family service will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home with burial at Fairmount cemetery to follow.
