In Loving Memory of Carol Ruth (Dorman) Morrison August 18, 1947 – January 16, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Carol Ruth (Dorman) Morrison, age 77, on January 16, 2025, at her home in Aurora, Colorado, with her loving husband, John, by her side. Carol was born on August 18, 1947 in in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Charles and Ruth Dorman. Carol grew up spending summers on Michigan’s Bass Lake, waterskiing, fishing and hiking, at the cottage her father and uncles built by hand. It was there that she began her lifelong and abiding love of nature.

Carol was the beloved wife of John, with whom she shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories and deep love. She was a devoted mother to her two sons, Bradley and Shane, and the proud grandmother of Flynn and Ava, who brought her endless joy. Carol and her family moved to Denver when she was 6. She attended Thomas Jefferson high school in Denver and after graduation attended CU Boulder, where she studied English. It was there, when she was 18 years old, that she met the love of her life, John.

Together, John and Carol embarked on countless adventures and celebrated their love of music – especially John’s college band, and Carol’s love of Fleetwood Mac! Carol and John united in marriage at First Presbyterian Church of Boulder, April, 19 1969. It was on that beautiful spring day when Carol and John embarked on their future together, behind the wheel of their ’62 Ford convertible with The Doors blasting on the radio.

Carol and John moved to Aurora in 1973, with their two small sons, Bradly and Shane. Aurora became her home for the remainder of her life and where she made many life-long friendships.

Known for her warmth, generosity, and sense of humor, Carol had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome. She found great joy in her. Her love of animals and wildlife preservation were two of Carol’s greatest passions. She saved and rehabilitated countless wild animals. Several of the orphaned baby raccoons that she rescued and nursed back to health continued to visit her, many years after she released them back into the wild. Her legacy of love and compassion lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Carol is survived by her husband, John Corwin; her sons, Bradley David and Shane Andrew; her grandchildren: Hayden Flynn and Ava Ruth. Carol is also survived by her brother, Chip Dorman and many other family members and dear friends. Carol is preceded in death by her mother and father, Charles and Ruth Dorman.

A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, in Aurora, Colorado February 22, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Denver Zoo, an organization close to Carol’s heart.

Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to Carol’s wonderful speech, occupational and physical therapist.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
