Carol Augusta Perry was born on September 20, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri. She departed this life on January 13, 2022. Carol was the sixth child of Robert Madison and Minnie U. Perry. Who preceded her in death. She also had three sisters, Martha, Delores, and Ethel and two brothers, Robert Jr. and James who have preceded her in death.
Carol spent most of her life in East St. Louis. She attended public schools, and graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School in June of 1958. She attended Southern Illinois University, but did not graduate.
Carol worked for Ebony Insurance Company before being hired by Monsanto in 1968. She was hired as a Credit Coordinator. She was promoted to Sales Representative in the Ag Division. Carol retired in 1990 to care for her ill father.
Carol was very active in the community. She was an outspoken member of the Gadfly organization, a watchdog for the city's spending, but there was not enough citizen support. She was President of the Winstanley Organization which helped older citizens with home repairs in cooperation with the University of Illinois. They also started a Farmers Market where people could bring various goods to sell.
Upon the death of her mother, she decided to relocate to Denver, Colorado, a city she always loved. After moving to Denver, Carol worked at Hertz Rental and Walmart before retiring for good.
Carol was devoted to her grandchildren, Pierre Moody and Aleeya Hamner who she helped raise. Carol leaves one son, Darryl of Denver, her two grandchildren, two sisters Thelma Wayne, and Esther Marcano both of Denver along with many nieces and nephews to mourn her loss, but to also celebrate her life and cherish memories.
