Carole Anne Smith, 85, of Lakewood died Thursday December 2nd. She was born to the late Henry and Alice Krigsholm, October 30, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois.
She graduated from Austin High School in 1954 a member of the National Honor Society, Mask and Gavel drama club and Choir. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Speech from Northwestern University in 1958. In 1966 she married Arthur Smith. She taught elementary school 4th and 5th grades until relocating to Lakewood, CO in 1972, where she worked for Sears Roebuck and Co. from 1973 until she retired.
Carole served in the VFW as Auxiliary and District president. She and Arthur enjoyed RV travels until his passing in 1996. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and volunteered there. She went to Oberammergau Germany in 2010, for the decennial production of "The Passion Play" fulfilling a lifelong dream. The group also visited six other European countries. In May 2020, Carole earned the "Certificate in Biblical Studies" from the Catholic Bible School. She enjoyed reading, needlework, photography, and the outdoors. She often quipped "we grow too soon old and too late smart."
Carole is survived by her son Christopher and his wife Vivian of Morrison CO, daughter Lynn Smith of West Branch Iowa, and a grandson Michael in Florida. She is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Alice, husband Arthur, brothers Kenneth and Jerome, sisters Janice and Barbara, nephews Joseph and Kevin.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Lakewood on Monday December 20th at 11:00 AM followed by committal service at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 2:00 PM, (Shelter A).
