Carole Suzanne Gilsdorf was born May 9, 1934 in Lincoln Nebraska.
She met Gene Smith in 1951, the same year he deployed with the Navy.
They were married in November 1953, she joined him on the island of Guam in October of 1954.
While on the island she worked as office manager for a navy public works office. They moved back to Lincoln in 1955, to Denver in 1961 and to Galesburg Illinois in 1971. They returned to Arvada in 1979.
She had great pride in her home, loved collecting antique glassware, porcelain & ceramics. Hosting family gatherings and holiday celebrations, or having someone over to try a new recipe made her happy. She particularly liked collecting and tweaking new recipes, and made a mean chocolate cake. She sewed, embroidered beautifully and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her husband Gene, three children Deb, Tom & Jim, 4 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren children and her brother Jim.
There will be a celebration of her life that is yet being planned for the near future.
