Carolyn Haubert

October 4, 1930 — May 21, 2018

Carolyn Marie Haubert was born in Denver on November 30, 1923 to Mary Nielsen Riedel and John Riedel. Her father John was a Volga German immigrant from Russia who was as a young man encouraged to leave his family for a better life in America.

The church helped guide the immigrants on the journey and John's journey brought him to Denver. Here he met and married Mary Nielsen at the First German Congregational Church in Globeville on December 19, 1915. The family grew to have five sons and one daughter. Lee, Al, Lester, Carolyn, John Jr. and Ralph all attended Garden Place, Horace Mann, and North High School.

Carolyn came to know Vernon Haubert who was friends with the brothers and on October 29, 1942, Carolyn and Vern got married at the First German Congregational Church. The wedding party and friends they forged continued to be lifetime friends.

Carolyn and Vern celebrated almost 63 years of marriage until Vern's' passing on August 17, 2005. The family grew following the marriage with the birth of Dennis A. Haubert Sr., Gary K. Haubert; Grandchildren: Dennis A. (Lori) Haubert Jr., Sheila M. Castillo; Great Grandchildren: Jamie M. (Troy) Thomas, Tyler M. Haubert, Branden A. Castillo, Justin L. Castillo, and Ashley M. Castillo; Great Great Grandchildren Trenton N. Thomas and Alexandria R. Thomas.

In addition to her husband Vern, also preceding Carolyn in death were here mother Mary Elizabeth Riedel, and her father John Riedel, and her brother Lester was lost in WWII.
