Carolyn Crusita Sanchez, 78, of Denver passed on Thursday April 6, 2023. She was born to the late Ebodio and Theresa Salazar on December 11, 1944, in Trinidad, Colorado.
Carolyn grew up in Trinidad with 5 siblings. She loved to dance and sing, dress up and cruise Commercial and Main in Trinidad with her sisters and friends. The family was very close growing up and often she would help her mother with household chores as well as making tortillas for the restaurant she worked in where she also waited tables.
Carolyn married Francisco "Art" Sanchez with whom she had 3 children and as a family played competitive softball as well being an avid bowler traveling to different states to participate in bowling tournaments with family and friends. This was one of my mom's favorite times. I always remember her being really good at bowling she was in the newspaper on more than one occasion. She also loved the Colorado Rockies she was our Queen of Diamonds.
Carolyn received an associate degree in nursing and went on to have a long career in that field which included working in Hospitals as well as Caring for the elderly in Nursing homes, taking them into her home for long term care and teaching CNA classes for those who care for their loved ones in the comfort of their own home. Carolyn was passionate about making sure everyone received quality care. She also loved to gamble and had worked as a Pit Boss at Bushwhacker's in Blackhawk, where she met famous folks and rubbed elbows with high rollers, another thing she was good at! Our professional gambler is what we called her, everyone has one, right?
