Carson D. Simpson

Carson Douglas Simpson, formerly of Aurora, Colorado, passed away on February 6, 2018 at the age of 91 years.

Carson was born on May 17, 1926 in Golden, Colorado. His father, Charles Simpson, was the descendant of a pioneer family in Colorado. Carson's grandfather, Carson D. Simpson, was the first white child born in the Colorado territory in 1859. Carson graduated from Golden High School in 1944. He played football on the high school team. Carson also worked part-time at the Coors pottery plant during his high school years.

Carson enlisted in the U.S. Navy shortly after high school and was stationed on the west coast. Carson met his wife, Mildred, who was also in the Navy while stationed in Oregon. After W.W.II Carson and Mildred married and settled in Lakewood, Colorado where Carson built a home and welcomed three daughters. He worked for the Rio Grande Railroad and also was a Naval Reservist during this time. The family spent a lot of time enjoying the Rocky Mountains, camping and fishing. Carson was re-called to active duty during the Korean War.

Carson served his Naval assignments in Denver, San Diego, Okinawan, Oceanside, Omaha and Viet Nam. Carson retired from the Navy in 1977 as a Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman after 30 years of service.

Carson and Mildred were avid bowlers and participated in the Senior Olympics for many fun-filled years. They traveled all over the United States and toured the Holy Lands. Their strong Christian beliefs always played a large part in their life.

Carson was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Mildred, his parents, two brothers, one sister, nieces, nephews and a grandson. He is survived by his three daughters: Cynthia Burdick (Fred) of Parachute, Colorado; Kathy Henderson (Randall) of Centennial, Colorado; and Kristine Simpson of Longmont, Colorado; six grandchildren: Laura Duggan (John), Timothy Simpson (Elizabeth), Carolyn Taylor (Jake), Jeff Henderson, Jill Henderson and Krissy Keenan (Mark); eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and three brothers (Sonny, Larry and Lynn Balderston).

Carson was a wonderful husband and father. He was loved by many and will be missed by all!
