Charlene F. Schmidt, 78, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away April 27, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. She was born September 10th, 1944, to Barlow and Cunene Ford, in Marked Tree, Arkansas. Charlene attended School in Marked Tree until the 10th grade. She dropped out to start working to help support the family. She moved from Arkansas to College Station, Texas where she lived only a short while before moving to McPherson, Kansas. There she met her first husband Don Schlehuber and had their son Donovan K. Schlehuber, Jr. They moved to Aurora, Colorado. Years later while working at the Coach Light Restaurant, She met her second husband Mylo H. Schmidt (Hank), whom she married October 31, 1981, and stayed devoted to till her death. Charlene attended night school the summer of 1986 with her friend Laura Scruggs to attain their GED. She was a hard working lady, working as a waitress at Denny's for over 20 years and then coming out of retirement to work a number of years at Ace Hardware. She loved planting her garden, flowers, and houseplants. She liked bowling, was an avid bingo player, and enjoyed watching Jeopardy & Wheel of Fortune, but she prided herself in being a great wife, mother & friend. Never met a stranger, always welcoming, and a loyal friend, loving wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother. Charlene is survived by her husband Mylo, son Donovan, daughter-in-law Shannon, grandchildren Garret, Dylan, Mackensi, and sisters Pamela , Theresa, Renea, and brother Jimmy. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents Cusene & Barlow Ford, sisters Mary, Francis, Tammy, Janice Kay, and brother Jonny.
