Charles Henry Bedell III, 73, of Aurora Colorado passed away on Saturday December 30th, 2017.
He was born on August 16, 1944 in Amsterdam, New York, the son of Charles Henry Bedell Jr. and Helen Bedell (Kozeniewski). He was in the Boy Scouts at an early age and also very active in his family church St Casimir's, serving as an altar boy. He graduated from Wilbur Lynch High School in 1962 and soon after joined the United States Air Force.
He earned a Bronze Star for his meritorious service in Vietnam and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant following 22 years of military service. Following his military career, he worked for the Department of Defense until his retirement in 2002.
He is survived by mother Helen Bedell (Kozeniewski) of Amsterdam New York; his wife of 49 years Gerda Bedell (Zepnick); daughters Michelle (James Watson III) and Melanie (Kyle Baker); grandchildren Zane Parsons, Violet Watson and Kody Baker; sister Sandra Smarup and husband Dwight; brother Gary Bedell; nieces, nephews, cousins across the US and sisters and brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews in Germany, and beloved friends.
He is preceded in death by father Charles Henry Bedell Jr.
He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. His wife and daughters have fond memories of traveling and exploring Europe while living overseas. He enjoyed playing pool, watching game shows on TV, gambling, listening to oldies and doo-wop and walking his beloved dog Mojo.
His family will miss his kindness, humor, jokes, and the nicknames and songs he made up for members of his family. He truly was a wonderful man and he will be greatly missed and loved by everyone who knew him.
