Charles "Charlie" Berg, 88, left us on January 27, 2021 after a battle with prostate cancer.
Charlie was born in Denver, CO. on October 5, 1932. Shortly after, his family moved to Alliance, NE. This is where he lived until he enlisted in the Marines in 1950. He was deployed to Korea and was honorably discharged in 1954.
Following his deployment, he began his career working for Burlington Northern Railroad. After almost 40 years he retired as Lead Supervisor at the Denver Diesel Shop in 1995. His connection to the railroad persisted as he warmly attended the monthly retirement luncheons. He also told railroad stories that could entertain an audience of all ages.
He enjoyed travel, family dinners, and wine. One of his most notable hobbies included decorating the outside of his house every year for Halloween. This event became a much-anticipated tradition, marking him as a fixture in the neighborhood. Charlie's contributions were further seen through his willingness to lend a helping hand, while sharing his vast knowledge in seemingly every area. He was a humble man and turned every opportunity into a teachable moment. He instilled in us to focus on our family and our futures. Charlie treasured his family and embraced every moment with them. Although we will greatly miss him, his hugs, his sense of humor, his love, we will find comfort in the memories.
He is survived by his nephews Brad (Sarah), Queen Creek, AZ; Mike (Catherine), Gulfport, MS; Matt (Beth) Hopkinsville, KY; niece Julie (Joe) of Lingle, WY; granddaughter Janet of Denver, CO; grandsons James, Denver, CO and Jeff, Julesburg, CO; great-grandson Daniel (Chelesa), Denver, CO; great-granddaughters Tanae (Deontae) and Treya, Denver, CO; great-great-grandchildren Clarice, Ari, and Ivy.
Memorial date TBD Summer 2021. If interested in attending please email Tanae.ashley@gmail.com for details.
