Charles Claus Groninga
September 13, 1938 – September 19, 2018

Born to John and Naomi Groninga on September 13, 1938, in Glendale, California Charles Claus (Chuck) Groninga was destined to lead a spirited giving and loving family of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and three younger brothers and a dear sister through eight adventurous decades in southern and northern California. Chuck was interested and committed to many features of the post-WWII California life style including hot rods, outdoor life (camping, exploring and fishing) and sports (baseball) as well as the arts. Chuck was a highly energetic husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was pre-deceased by his parents, brother Keith, daughter Cathy Breslin, precious granddaughter Lauren Groninga, brother-in-law Paul Tokarski, Norma (Johnson) Groninga and Cathy (Thom) Groninga.

Chuck both gave and received love from the love of his life and dedicated wife of forty years (Vicki Lynn), his children including Steve (Frankie), Cathy (Bob), Chad (Erin), Jeff, Kristen (Rob) Denman and Lindsay (Stephen) Martinez. He leaves ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also, knowing and loving him are surviving brothers Curt (Vicki) Groninga and Mike (Patti) Groninga and sister Jeanne (Groninga) Tokarski.

Chuck's was a many-faceted journey that included a twenty-five year career with the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department and, several self-owned businesses including Early Tin (civil war memorabilia), Old Rust (restored hot rods), Red Lion Racing and Victorian Lady Picture Framing. Vicki and Chuck ventured forth from Glendale to Rancho Cucamonga and Magalia, California. For the past year, they have lived in Morrison, Colorado. Chuck chose cremation and have his ashes spread throughout California's High Sierras. Plans are pending for a southern California based memorial.

A Celebration of Life, in Southern California, will occur later this year. For further information, please contact:
