Charles Emanuel Tatham Jr.
Chuck was born in Pittsburg, Kansas on December 7, 1921 to Elizabeth Ann Blackett, she was a housewife, and Charles Tatham Sr., he was a coal miner. Chuck grew up in Pittsburg and went to school there. In high school, he delivered prescriptions for a drug store on his bike to customers for three years. Then, he was promoted to the soda fountain and was known as a "soda jerk" for a year! For the next couple of years he worked for Kroger, a cigar and billiard store, and with the telephone company.
When World War II started in December 1941, Chuck was 20 and he and a buddy enlisted in the Army. He was sworn in on January 29, 1942. In October 1942, he went roller skating on his 10-day leave and met Ethel Aragon. 9-and one-half weeks later they were married! In May 1943, he left for the South Pacific. He was in the South Pacific through October 1945. Corpy was born while Chuck was in the South Pacific and then they had Galen. Chuck has 4 Granddaughters, Corpy's daughters Tammy Sodia, Randa Haug, and Nikki Logsdon, & Galen's daughter Christine Tatham. He is also survived by 9 Great-Grandchildren, Kelsi, Alec, Ian, Sam, Tyler, Mallory David, Paige and Travis and 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren, Braydon, Andrew, Troy, Emmalynn and Rian Hailey. Chuck loved them all very much! After his years in the service, Chuck was a Met Life Insurance salesman. Chuck's hobby was making doll cribs and other wooden items. He loved to sing and sang with several bands in the Denver area. He also loved to dance. His favorite song was "Welcome To My World". He was the American Legion Commander at Post 17 for 2 years. His first wife Ethel passed away in 1988 and then he married Yvonne Coy in 1989. Yvonne has 3 daughters and 1 son: Sherry Fuller, Susan Anderson, and Diane Angle and Michael Agnew. Chuck had a wonderful beautiful life! We will miss your orneriness, your jokes and your beautiful smile... but we will remember them always!!!!
