Charlotte Marie (Garrison) Tupps of Aurora died at Denver Hospice on February 27. She was 86.
Born February 17,1934 in Liberal, Kansas to Charles and Elsie Garrison, her family moved to the Denver area in 1938. Her father ran a Conoco Service Station on Colfax Avenue for over 30 years.
Charlotte graduated from East High in Denver in 1951 and then went on the Colorado A&M (now Colorado State University) where she met her future husband, Wayne Tupps.
She married Wayne on Dec, 21 1952 in Denver.
From 1954-1956 Wayne and Charlotte lived in France while Wayne served as an arms ordinance officer. In France, their daughter, Diana was born. They returned to farm outside Bennett throughout the years. Charlotte was a city girl but adjusted to country life, milking the goats and feeding the chickens.
Charlotte volunteered at the Adams County Bennett Library in 1970 and it evolved into becoming Bennett Branch Librarian retiring in 1993, a job she loved because of her passion for learning and passing that on to others through reading. Books were her favorite gift to children in the family. Charlotte had perfected the lost art of listening and she always dispensed the right advice. Her patrons, family and friends benefited from this.
Charlotte was a member of Watkins Woman's Club, Bennett Presbyterian Church and St. Paul Presbyterian Church.
Charlotte is survived by a daughter, Diana Marie(Ralph), two sons John Robert of Florida and Michael Benjamin of Kentucky, two sisters, Carol Saenz, Broomfield and Louise Rowe, Denver. Six grandchildren, Peter, Amy, Lisa, Jeremiah, Jonathan, Kyle and Tina.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Charlotte's name to St. Paul Presbyterian Church, 18901 E. Hampden Ave., Aurora, CO 80013.
